History of the Temple
Shri Ganesh Temple at Ranthambore Fort, also known as the Trinetra Ganesh Temple, is one of the most famous and ancient temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha in Rajasthan. The temple is located within the historic Ranthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the Hill Forts of Rajasthan. According to local tradition, the temple dates back to the 13th–14th century during the reign of King Hammir Dev Chauhan of Ranthambore. It is believed that during a siege of the fort, the king had a divine vision of Lord Ganesha, after which an idol of three-eyed (Trinetra) Ganesha manifested and blessings led to the lifting of the siege. Since then, the temple has been revered as a powerful center of faith and devotion.
A unique tradition associated with this temple is the offering of wedding invitations and letters to Lord Ganesha. Devotees from across India send invitation cards by post to seek blessings before auspicious ceremonies. The temple attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists every year and offers beautiful views of the surrounding forests of Ranthambore National Park. The sanctum houses idols of Lord Ganesha along with his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi, symbolizing prosperity and spiritual success.
