Lord Krishna – Avatar of Lord Vishnu
Lord Krishna is one of the most revered deities in Hinduism and is worshipped as the eighth avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu, the Preserver of the Universe in the Hindu Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh). According to Hindu belief, Lord Vishnu incarnates on Earth whenever righteousness (Dharma) declines and evil (Adharma) rises.
Birth of Lord Krishna
Lord Krishna was born in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva during the Dwapara Yuga. His birth took place in a prison because his maternal uncle, King Kansa, feared a prophecy that Devaki’s eighth son would cause his death. To protect the divine child, Vasudeva carried baby Krishna across the Yamuna River to Gokul, where he was raised by Nanda and Yashoda.
