History of the Temple
Tiruvannamalai is primarily known as one of the Hindu religion’s Pancha Bhoota Sthalas of Lord Shiva, representing the Agni (Fire) element. However, the region is also home to ancient Vishnu temples that are associated with the 108 Divya Desams mentioned in the sacred Tamil Vaishnavite texts called the Divya Prabandham.
