History of the Temple

Sugandha Shaktipeeth is a sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Sunanda (a form of Sati/Parvati), located in Shikarpur village near Barisal, Bangladesh.

According to Hindu mythology, the nose of Goddess Sati fell at this location, making it one of the revered Shakti Peethas.

The temple is situated on the banks of the Sunanda River and has been rebuilt several times over the centuries.

Here, Goddess Sati is worshipped as Sunanda and Lord Shiva as Tryambak.
