History of the Temple

Sriparvat, also known historically as Sriparvata, is an ancient and sacred hill region in present-day Telangana and Andhra Pradesh cultural geography. The name Sriparvata is frequently mentioned in ancient Hindu scriptures, Puranas, and inscriptions. It is closely associated with Shaivism and is considered one of the sacred abodes of Lord Shiva.

Historically, Sriparvata is believed to be part of the larger sacred landscape that includes Srisailam, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The region flourished as an important religious and cultural center during the Satavahana, Ikshvaku, and later Chalukya periods. Several Buddhist and Hindu remains found in nearby areas indicate that Sriparvat was also a center of learning and spiritual practices in ancient India.

Over centuries, Sriparvat has remained a symbol of spiritual significance, attracting devotees, saints, and pilgrims. The serene hill environment and its association with ancient traditions continue to make Sriparvat an important religious destination.
