History of Somnath Temple
Somnath Temple is the first among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
According to tradition, it was originally built by the Moon God (Chandra).
The temple faced repeated destruction and reconstruction over centuries
due to invasions. The present structure was rebuilt in 1951 under the
guidance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Standing on the shores of the Arabian Sea, Somnath symbolizes resilience,
devotion, and spiritual strength, featuring magnificent Chalukya-style
architecture.
