History of the Temple

Bawangaja is a renowned Jain pilgrimage site in Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh. It is famous for the 84-foot monolithic statue of Lord Rishabhadeva (Adinath), carved in the early 12th century from a single stone on the Satpura hill range. The site is regarded as a Siddha Kshetra where many Jain saints attained Nirvana. The temple complex includes multiple shrines both at the hill base and hilltop.
