History of the Temple
Sharada Peeth, located in Sharda village of Neelum Valley (POK), was one of the most prominent ancient centers of learning between the 6th–12th centuries CE. Dedicated to Goddess Sharada (Saraswati), it was a revered Shakti Peeth and a hub of scholarship known for its vast library and development of the Sharada script. After 1947, the temple fell into disuse due to geopolitical changes, and pilgrimage stopped. The site remains historically significant though largely in ruins.
