  • By Road: Approx. 800 km via NH48, taking around 14–15 hours.

Ahmedabad to Shamlaji Temple:

  • By Road: About 150 km; 3 to 3.5 hours via NH48.
  • By Train: Nearest railway station is Himmatnagar; then drive approx. 30 km.
  • By Bus: Regular GSRTC buses available from Ahmedabad to Shamlaji.

History of the Temple

Shamlaji Temple, located in the Aravalli district of Gujarat, is a highly revered shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Shamlaji or Gadadhar. The temple stands on the banks of the Meshwo River and reflects magnificent art and architectural elements dating back to the 11th century, with multiple renovations over time.

According to local legends, the idol of Shamlaji was discovered by a tribal devotee, after which a temple was established.
