How to Reach
Delhi to Shamlaji Temple:
- By Air: Fly from Delhi to Ahmedabad Airport; from there, drive approx. 150 km to Shamlaji.
- By Train: Trains are available from Delhi to Ahmedabad or Himmatnagar; onward travel by road.
- By Road: Approx. 800 km via NH48, taking around 14–15 hours.

- By Road: About 150 km; 3 to 3.5 hours via NH48.
- By Train: Nearest railway station is Himmatnagar; then drive approx. 30 km.

History of the Temple
Shamlaji Temple, located in the Aravalli district of Gujarat, is a highly revered shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Shamlaji or Gadadhar. The temple stands on the banks of the Meshwo River and reflects magnificent art and architectural elements dating back to the 11th century, with multiple renovations over time.
It is believed that the temple has ancient origins, with references linked to the Mahabharata era. According to local legends, the idol of Shamlaji was discovered by a tribal devotee, after which a temple was established. The Shamlaji Fair held during Kartik Purnima is one of the oldest and largest fairs in the region.
