History of the Temple
Ram Raja Temple in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, is one of the rare temples in India where Lord Rama is worshipped as a king. According to legend, Queen Ganesh Kunwari of Orchha brought an idol of Lord Rama from Ayodhya after intense devotion and penance. It is believed that the idol was temporarily placed in the queen’s palace, but once installed, it did not move. As a result, the palace itself was converted into a temple, and Lord Rama has ever since been worshipped here in royal form, complete with guards and ceremonial honors. The temple holds great religious significance and attracts thousands of devotees every year.
