History of the Temple
The Palitana Temples, located on Shatrunjaya Hills in Gujarat, form one of the most sacred Jain pilgrimage sites. The complex contains more than 800 marble temples constructed over nearly 900 years. Shatrunjaya Hill is considered holy as it is believed that all 24 Jain Tirthankaras visited this site. The principal temple is dedicated to Lord Adinath (Rishabhanatha), the first Tirthankara. The temples are renowned for their detailed marble architecture and deep spiritual importance. Pilgrims traditionally climb approximately 3,800 steps to reach the hilltop temples.
