History of the Temple
Nidhivan, located in Vrindavan (Uttar Pradesh), is one of the most sacred and mystical places associated with the divine pastimes of Lord Krishna and Radha. It is believed to be the site where Krishna performed the Ras Leela every night with Radha and the Gopis. The dense forest is filled with uniquely shaped intertwined trees, which devotees consider symbolic of the Gopis in eternal devotion.
A long-standing belief is that no human stays inside Nidhivan after sunset, as it is said that the divine Ras Leela still occurs at night. Even the temple priests close the doors before dusk. Any attempt to stay inside after sunset is believed to bring severe consequences. Whether taken as faith or folklore, Nidhivan remains one of the holiest and most mysterious places in Vrindavan.
