History of the Temple
Kumari Shaktipeeth in Kanyakumari is one of the 51 sacred Shaktipeethas in India. According to mythology, this is the place where the spine of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. The presiding deity is Devi Kanya Kumari, a form of the eternal virgin goddess who represents strength, purity, and devotion.
The temple has been a significant pilgrimage center since ancient times, visited by sages including Swami Vivekananda. Located at the southernmost tip of India, the temple stands where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean meet.
