History of the Temple

The Karmanghat Hanuman Temple dates back to the 12th century CE during the Kakatiya dynasty. Legend says that the ruler discovered a meditating Hanuman idol in a forest. Attempts by invaders to destroy the temple failed due to divine protection, giving rise to the name ‘Karmanghat’, meaning ‘make your heart strong’. The main deity is Lord Hanuman in a meditative posture and the temple complex includes several other shrines.
