History of the Temple

Kalmadhav Shakti Peeth is situated in Amarkantak, the origin of the sacred Narmada River. It is one of the 51 Shaktipeethas, where the left buttock of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. The Goddess is worshipped here as Kali, and Lord Shiva as Kalmadhav. The temple is considered ancient, with references suggesting thousands of years of spiritual significance. The serene surroundings and proximity to the Narmada Udgam Sthan add to its holiness.
