History of the Temple
Jakhoo Hanuman Temple is one of the most ancient and iconic temples in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of about 2,455 meters, Jakhoo Hill is the highest point in Shimla. According to Hindu mythology, the hill is believed to be the place where Lord Hanuman stopped to rest while searching for the Sanjeevani herb during the Ramayana era.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and houses a massive statue that stands approximately 108 feet tall, visible from various parts of Shimla. The temple has been a significant pilgrimage site for devotees and travelers seeking peace, spirituality, and breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
