About History of the Temple

Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib is one of the most sacred Sikh shrines and is located in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. The gurdwara marks the place where Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, were bricked alive in 1705 by the orders of the Mughal governor Wazir Khan for refusing to convert to Islam.

The site stands as a symbol of supreme sacrifice, courage, and faith. Several gurdwaras within the complex commemorate different events associated with the martyrdom. Every year, thousands of devotees from India and abroad visit the gurdwara, especially during the Shaheedi Jor Mela, to pay homage and remember the sacrifice made by the Sahibzadas
