Through deep meditation, he attained Enlightenment (Bodhi) at Bodh Gaya, Bihar, under the Bodhi Tree.
Lord Buddha attained Nirvana (Mahaparinirvana) at Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, which is considered his Nirvan Sthal. Kushinagar marks the place where he left his mortal body and attained final liberation.
