Gautam Buddha – Complete Life Details (Birth to Mahaparinirvana)
1. Birth & Early Life
– Born as Prince Siddhartha Gautama around 563 BCE.
– Birthplace: Lumbini (present-day Nepal).
– Father: King Suddhodana of the Shakya clan.
– Mother: Queen Maya Devi (died seven days after birth).
– Raised by his aunt Mahaprajapati Gautami.
– Married to Princess Yashodhara.
– Son: Rahula.
– Lived a luxurious royal life in Kapilavastu.
2. The Four Sights
At age 29, Siddhartha witnessed:
1. An old man
2. A sick man
3. A dead body
4. A monk seeking peace
These sights made him realize the truth of suffering.
3. Renunciation
– At age 29, he left the palace at night.
– Gave up royal clothing and began life as an ascetic.
– Practiced severe austerities for six years near Bodh Gaya.
4. Enlightenment (Bodh Gaya)
– Meditated under the Bodhi Tree.
– Overcame temptations from Mara.
– Attained Enlightenment at age 35.
– Became “The Buddha” – The Enlightened One.
