About History of the Temple
Gurdwara Ghai Ghat, also known as Gurdwara Gau Ghat Sahib, is one of the oldest Sikh shrines in Patna, Bihar.
The place was originally the house of Bhagat Jaitamal, a devoted follower of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited this place in 1509 A.D. during his travels and stayed here.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji also visited this place in 1666 A.D. along with his family, including young Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The name Ghai (Gai) Ghat comes from a legend where Guru Nanak Dev Ji helped Bhagat Jaitamal by making the river Ganges appear as a cow
