About History of the Temple
Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib is one of the five sacred Takhts (seats of authority) of Sikhism. It is located in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab. The Takht holds immense historical and religious importance as it is the place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded the Khalsa Panth in 1699 on the occasion of Vaisakhi.
Originally known as Kesgarh Fort, the site served as a strategic and spiritual center during the time of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It was from here that the Guru introduced the Five Ks and baptized the Panj Pyare (Five Beloved Ones). The present Gurdwara stands as a symbol of courage, equality, and devotion.
The complex houses important relics, including weapons used by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib continues to be a major pilgrimage site, attracting devotees from across the world.
