How to Reach – From Delhi to Maa Tripura Sundari Temple:
- By Air: Take a flight from Delhi (DEL) to Agartala Airport (IXA), which is the nearest airport.
- From Agartala: Hire a taxi or take a state transport bus to Udaipur town (approximately 55–60 km), then proceed to Matabari where the temple is located.
- By Train: Trains are available to Agartala Railway Station. From there, road transport is required to reach the temple.
- By Road: Long-distance road travel from Delhi is not practical, but buses operate from nearby northeastern cities to Agartala and Udaipur.

Additional Information:
The temple houses two idols of the Goddess – a smaller idol of Chhotima and the main idol of Tripura Sundari. A sacred water tank called Kalyan Sagar is located beside the temple, where large fish and turtles are considered holy. Devotees believe that prayers offered here bring peace, prosperity, and fulfillment of wishes.
History of the Temple
Maa Tripura Sundari Temple, also known as Matabari Temple, is located in Udaipur in the Gomati district of Tripura. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and is dedicated to Goddess Tripura Sundari, also revered as Shodashi or Lalita. According to legend, the right foot of Goddess Sati fell at this place, making it a powerful center of Shakti worship. The present temple structure is believed to have been built around 1501 CE by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya. The temple stands on a small hillock shaped like the back of a tortoise, which is why it is also called a Kurma Peetha.
