Pawapuri is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Jains. It is the place where Lord Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, attained Nirvana in 527 BCE. After his cremation, devotees collected the sacred ashes, which led to the formation of a lotus-filled lake. In the center of this lake stands the Jal Mandir, built of white marble, symbolizing purity and peace.
The temple complex reflects Jain architectural simplicity and spiritual significance. Pawapuri remains a major center of devotion, attracting pilgrims from India and abroad.
