About the History of Gurusthan – Shirdi

Gurusthan is one of the most sacred places in Shirdi and holds great historical and spiritual significance. It is believed that Sai Baba was first seen sitting under a neem tree at this very spot when he arrived in Shirdi as a young ascetic. The place later came to be known as Gurusthan, meaning the place of the Guru.

According to tradition, the neem tree under which Sai Baba sat has special spiritual power, and devotees believe that visiting Gurusthan helps remove negative energies and grants peace of mind. A small shrine with Sai Baba’s padukas (footprints) is installed here, and devotees offer prayers before proceeding to the main temple.
