History of the Temple
Govind Dev Ji Temple, located in the City Palace complex of Jaipur, is one of the most revered temples dedicated to Lord Krishna. The deity of Govind Dev Ji was originally worshipped in Vrindavan. During the Mughal era, the idol was moved to safer locations to protect it from destruction. Finally, the idol was brought to Jaipur by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 18th century.
It is believed that the idol of Govind Dev Ji closely resembles the divine form of Lord Krishna as revealed to Meera Bai. The temple is renowned for its seven daily darshans, each with unique decorations and devotional music. Thousands of devotees visit every day to seek blessings and experience the deeply spiritual atmosphere.
