Delhi – To – Badrinath Temple:

  • By Air: Fly from Delhi to Dehradun (Jolly Grant Airport). From there, take a taxi or bus to Badrinath (approx. 330 km).
  • By Train: Nearest railway station is Rishikesh/Haridwar. From station, taxis and buses are available for Badrinath.
  • By Road: Direct government and private buses run from Delhi to Rishikesh. From Rishikesh, take a bus/taxi to Badrinath.

Ahmedabad – To – Badrinath Temple:

  • By Air: Fly from Ahmedabad to Dehradun (connecting flights). Then travel by road to Badrinath.
  • By Train: Trains available from Ahmedabad to Haridwar/Rishikesh via Delhi. Continue by road to Badrinath.
  • By Road: Ahmedabad to Badrinath via Udaipur – Jaipur – Delhi – Rishikesh. Long journey (approx. 1,700+ km).

History of the Temple

Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is one of the holiest shrines in India and part of the Char Dham Yatra. It is believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. The temple stands on the banks of Alaknanda River, surrounded by the Neelkanth Peak.

According to legend, Lord Vishnu meditated here while Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a Badri tree to protect Him from the harsh weather, giving the name ‘Badrinath’. The temple’s architecture features a colorful façade and a conical-shaped roof with sacred idols inside the sanctum. Thousands of devotees visit every year seeking blessings.
