How to Reach
Delhi → Kedarnath
- By Air: Fly from Delhi to Dehradun (Jolly Grant Airport) or to the nearest airport with connections. From Dehradun, take a taxi/bus to Guptkashi or Sonprayag/Gaurikund, then trek approximately 16 km to Kedarnath or hire a pony/porter/heli transfer (subject to availability).
- By Train: Take a train from Delhi to Haridwar or Rishikesh. From there, travel by road to Guptkashi/Sonprayag/Gaurikund and continue the trek.
- By Road: Drive or take buses from Delhi to Haridwar → Rishikesh → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sonprayag → Gaurikund; then trek to Kedarnath.
Ahmedabad → Kedarnath
- By Air: Fly from Ahmedabad to Dehradun (usually via Delhi or Mumbai). From Dehradun, proceed by road to Gaurikund and trek to Kedarnath.
- By Train: Take trains from Ahmedabad to Haridwar (or nearby major stations). Continue by road to Gaurikund and trek.
- By Road: Long-distance road journey via major cities (Ahmedabad → Udaipur → Jaipur → Delhi → Haridwar/Rishikesh → Rudraprayag → Guptkashi → Sonprayag → Gaurikund), then trek.
History of Kedarnath Temple
Kedarnath Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and
a principal shrine of the Char Dham Yatra.
According to legend, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought
forgiveness from Lord Shiva. Shiva avoided them and took the form
of a bull. The hump of the bull is believed to have remained at
Kedarnath.
The temple is believed to have been originally built by the Pandavas
and later renovated by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century.
Located at an altitude of 3,583 meters near the Mandakini River,
the temple is renowned for its granite architecture and austere
Himalayan setting.

- Maha Abhishek: Most important daily ceremonial bathing of the Jyotirlinga
- Rudrabhishek: Abhishek with Vedic Rudra chants
- Shodashopachaar Pooja: Worship with sixteen sacred offerings
- Panchamrit Abhishek: Milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar offering
- Morning & Evening Aarti: Daily aartis at dawn and dusk
- Rudra Homa: Vedic fire ritual on special request
